Fotheringay

Em 1969, influenciada por Trevor Lucas, Sandy Denny decide deixa o grupo Fairport Convention para formar a banda Fotheringay.

A banda conta com Trevor Lucas e Gerry Conway ex-membros da banda Eclection, Jerry Donahue e Pat Donaldson ex-membros da banda Poet and the One Man Band e Sandy Denny formando o quinteto. Em 1970 lançam o primeiro e único álbum da banda.

O disco teve cincos composições de Sandy, uma de Trevor e alguns covers, incluindo a canção Too Much of Nothing de Bob Dylan. O disco teve um ótimo resultado e foi bem recebido, mas com a vida tempestuosa do casal Sandy e Trevor – já casados – que envolvia drogas e álcool, e pressionados pela gravadora, decidem por fim ao grupo.

Fotheringay se separou em janeiro de 1971, durante as sessões do segundo álbum.

No século 21, o guitarrista Jerry Donahue, com a ajuda do baixista Pat Donaldson e o baterista Gerry Conway, únicos membros vivo, trabalharam nas fitas originais das gravações do que seria o segundo algum da banda. Cuidadosamente identificaram e montaram as melhores partes. Não foi dito explicitamente o uso de overdubbing durante a reconstituição do álbum, no entanto, sim, foi utilizado.

O Fotheringay 2 foi lançado em setembro de 2008.
